After 36 years of service with Tyler ISD, Chief Human Resource Officer, Sharon Roy, has announced that she will retire at the end of June this year.

From an outstanding Teacher, Mrs. Roy went on to become an outstanding Instructional Consultant and Assistant Principal, and then on to her current position as an outstanding leader of Tyler ISD’s Human Resources department.

Mrs. Roy led a profound transformation of Tyler ISD Human Resources; aligning the purpose of the HR department with the overall strategies and values of the District. The District's Board members thank Mrs. Roy for her years of service and applaud her unfailing professionalism and positive attitude. Please join Tyler ISD in thanking Mrs. Roy for her outstanding commitment and service to public schools during these 36 years.

Mr. Ronald Jones, the District’s Chief of Staff, will take on the lead role in the Human Resources department. Mr. Jones joined Tyler ISD in 2015 after serving 22 years with Dallas ISD as a teacher and administrator. No one can replace Mrs. Roy, but Mr. Jones’ experience and knowledge of the public school system make him the perfect fit for this role going forward.

Tanya Anderson, has been named the Lone Finalist for Superintendent of Schools for Azle ISD.

Kevin Philips, Director of HR, DeSoto ISD is sharing some of his Best Practices for his district. DeSoto ISD HR Department and the Superintendent are making the rounds this Spring having lunch with teachers and campus employees to get the pulse of the district, improve our relational capacity and hear from campus staff about what's working and what's not. This is a proactive act to increase our interactions and increase our retention rate.
